My uncle, my dad’s younger brother, whom we call as ‘Bojipa’ was a Drawing master by profession, but was versatile in other forms of art as well. He used to make Christmas crib set statues. My interaction with him was not many. But etched in my memory are a few instances, which I narrate. This may be of interest [...]

From the rough pencil sketch, Slight cropping is made to get the composition right. The sketch is also refined with more details to start coloring. Charcoal pencil is used to fill in the horse with light strokes

Started to Add details for the horse, beginning with its head. Also put in the flesh tint on the lady to get an overall idea on the feel of the work

After adding the darker shade of the horse, a flesh tint is added to the lady to get an over all feel of the artwork. Because of the use of water color for the lady, this work becomes a mixed media art work of pencil and water color.

The total area is being covered. The middle tone and the dark areas of the horse are gradually put-in to get the roundness of the horse. The lady’s hair and dress are touched up. The sky gets a blue tint

The is almost complete. Subtle light shade is added to the lady’s dress.. to keep the lady delicate no dark shadow of the folds added . Likewise the sky too is kept very light.

I just wanted to break the shackles. Strange that I was avoiding my painting room, where I find spending my time blissful. A few oil paintings on the easel unfinished, which I wanted to complete before the onset of the monsoon here; oil paint takes long to dry; infact the whole season! Alas! The rains [...]

Always I had difficulty in starting anything after a break! Well it was a request from a Nun, Sr. Lucy, who was my son’s catechism teacher 29 years ago, gave me that impetus to start… and the result is the oil painting of ’Infant Jesus of Prague’, which I am posting now, my latest, exclusively [...]

I would like to post a few drawings everyday along with other things. As doodles are the foundation of any art work, these were the foundation for my passion. Most of the doodles have been done while on travel, from memory and imagination.
