Still Life- Digital

Posted by: A. G. Rufus on: July 23, 2011

This still life, I had painted digitally while discovering the versatility of Photoshop, a decade ago. Oh my! How I loved every moment while painting this. I simply love Photoshop. I only use the basic tools; just the selection tool, brush tool and the eraser tool. No high tech filters…. not even burn and dodge. [...]

This is yet another sample illustration digitally painted, for approval from the client. I had pulled off from the assignment, may be because of the expectation level of perfection was very high and my endurance level was low

Amazing Grace

After a long layoff, I am glad to be back into blogging again! I would like to post some of the works which were commissioned to me over a period of time; some were long back and some quiet recently. To start with, I post one of the recent ones, the one titled ‘ Amazing Grace’ [...]

A Mother’s Bliss

Posted by: A. G. Rufus on: July 21, 2009

A digital painting poster for propagating breast feeding. This is one of my all time favorite painting. I was very pleased with the expression of coy and contentment of the lady  which I painted  from the imagination. A reference photo was used only for the pose and drapery

My good friend Bhuvan Babu who is a commercial artist, endowed with excellent skills in traditional and digital medium, traveled thousands of miles to come to me to get some tips on digital  painting in Photo shop. Not only was he a highly creative person but also a fast learner. Just a few hours in [...]

First attempt to make an ad with airbrush

Posted by: A. G. Rufus on: June 13, 2009

As I see this piece, my memory travel decades back to the period when I was trying to master handling the airbrush. It was difficult to paste the mask on paper as it used to damage the surface of the paper. So I chose a thin white PVC sheet of 6″x8”, sketched with pencil and [...]

Agony on the cross

Posted by: A. G. Rufus on: June 13, 2009

‘Agony on the cross’ was the title of an oil painting which I had painted on a Good Friday long ago. That painting won the first prize in an art exhibition. Similar to that is this digital painting; yet to be properly finished.

Dew drops on Rose

Posted by: A. G. Rufus on: June 12, 2009

This is a digital painting of one of the popular wall paper photographs most would have see. Yes it is a copy work except for the background. But attempting to paint such a beautiful piece by free hand digitally itself was a great pleasure. Painting the dew drops was the ultimate delight!

The White Horse

Posted by: A. G. Rufus on: June 9, 2009

This is yet another digital painting which I did with my sculpting method. No base out line drawing. This was painted after the apple which I had posted earlier on.
